Start with where the symptom appears
Roof repair planning begins with location. A ceiling stain near a bathroom vent, a damp attic area near a pipe boot, shingles missing on a wind-facing slope, and water near an exterior wall all point to different starting points. Write down the room, wall, or roof side connected to the symptom.

Repair signs worth taking seriously

Other signs may be less urgent but still useful to document. Granules near downspouts, curling shingles, small nail pops, and minor staining can help shape a repair or roof-age conversation.
When to request a roof repair estimate
Request an estimate when water is active, stains are spreading, materials are missing, storm damage is suspected, or the same area has needed repeated attention. You do not need to know whether the answer is a patch, flashing repair, pipe boot replacement, or something broader. The point of the estimate is to clarify that.
